Hydroxyl functional polyester for metal deco
DECOTHERM™ 290 E is a structured hydroxyl functional polyester resin resin dissolved in a low aromatic mineral distillate (260-290°C) intended for use in metal decorating inks printed via spindle printing (dry offset) for 2-piece cans.
This product exhibits better colour retention and maintains a non-Newtonian rheology providing a highly structured ink. This results in a significant reduction in misting at lower tack levels.
Recommend use
This polyester is to be cured with melamine resins such as hexamethoxymethyl melamine (HMMM).
Recommended curing catalyst : DECOTHERM™ 256 E
Solvent that can be used is a mixture of TDA and mineral distillate (260-290°C) in a ratio of 4:1.
An increase of mineral distillate results in less misting, however transfer can be affected.

DECOTHERM™ 290 E can be available in drums or IBC’s.
Shelf life from date of production is typically 12months.
The varnish should be stored at temperatures ideally between 10 and 30°C. The packaging should be kept tightly closed and stored in dry conditions.
An increase in viscosity is possible if the varnish is stored in wrong conditions or for an extended period of time.
